Experts Call for Greater Investment in HBCU Research – UNCF UNITE Summit Panel
At the UNCF UNITE Summit for Black Higher Education, Michelson 20MM’s Michelson Institute for Intellectual Property (MIIP) and Michelson Medical Research Foundation (MMRF) hosted a panel on the importance of supporting intellectual property education and policies at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
The panel, titled ‘The Path to R1 Status: Closing the Equity Gap in Research Funding’, explored the biomedical research taking place at HBCUs, the role of tech transfer offices, and how IP policies can aid HBCUs in advancing toward R1 status, thereby supporting scientists and generating wealth for the Black community.
